Machine productivity- Application and Calculation

 Machine productivity:

Productivity is the relationship between the quantity of output and the quantity of input in a specific timeframe. If you calculate for 10 hours shift in a line or factory, you need to consider output of 10 hours. Total production in pcs & total number of Machines involve to produce those quantity is required to calculate Machine productivity. Machine Productivity is one of the measuring tools of a machine’s capability to convert the raw inputs into a complete product.

Machine Productivity = Total produced garments in a day ÷ Number of machines Used

Calculation of Machine Productivity:

To calculate machine productivity of a line/factory, following data need to consider.

·      Total produced quantity of a line/factory

·      Total number of machines used to produce those quantity

·      Total shift working hours.

If we calculate it in 10/8 hours then we need to consider all output & number of used machines data also 10/8 hours.

For example:

A Factory produce 12000 pcs with 220 machines in 8 hours shift then,

Machine productivity at 8 hours = 12000/220 = 55 pcs

If we want it at 10 hours then calculate output of 10 hours & number of machines involve there to get the result.

A production line produce 150 pcs with 22 machines in an hour then,

Machine productivity at hourly = 150/22 = 6.82 pcs.

High productive machines will increase labor productivity in that way increase total production. It will help to reduce cost & make the garments cheaper. That’s why maximum manufacturing company are using technology updated machines to increase machine and labor productivity.
